Gainesville, Florida, March 21, 2023- Gainesville-based fitness apparel company Athlicity.co is excited to announce the addition of five University of Florida Women’s Soccer players to their NIL program known as NIL Plus.
Working with Athlicity are Lauren Donovan, a Junior midfielder and Educational Sciences major; Lauren McCloskey, a Sophomore defender midfielder and Applied Biology major; Ashley Tutas, a Sophomore forward and Social & Behavioral Sciences major; Josie Curtis, a Senior defender and Psychology major, and Madison Young, a Junior defender and Construction Management major.
Athlicity announced its first NIL partnership with University of Florida gymnast Bri Edwards in January. Athlicity was founded by four athletes who understand the challenges of balancing athletics, academic, and finances. Their goal of making high-end functional fitness clothing that is also affordable for students came to fruition with an official launch in 2022. The company will provide the five soccer players with athletic apparel designed to improve the comfort level of training, as well as financial compensation in exchange for an advertising and a social media relationship.
“This has given me the opportunity to not only meet and work with amazing people, but it creates work that I love to do,” commented Lauren Donovan. “I am able to express myself on social media using my name, image, and likeness with a brand that is amazing!”
Donovan, originally from Loveland Ohio, transferred to UF during the offseason from Minnesota, where she appeared in every match of the 2022 season. She also received academic All-Big Ten honors for the 2022 fall season.
“We are so excited to welcome Lauren and all five of these exceptional women to the Athlicity team,” commented Becky Klipin, Leadership Director for Athlicity. “They are examples of strong, successful women both in their athletics and their academics. They are wonderful role models and embody the values of our company."
The University of Florida women’s soccer spring season began February 24th and runs through April. Follow @GatorsSoccer on Twitter for more details.
Athlicity features a line of functional fitness apparel for men and women including sports bras, women’s leggings and shorts, and artistic creations such as their tie-dye series of leggings. These NIL agreements continue to demonstrate Athlicity’s commitment to student athletes.
